Williams Lake is famous for its exhilarating mountain biking and its
thrilling annual Stampede, but it is the authenticity and splendor
of nature that keeps people coming back... and often never
leaving. Outdoor enthusiasts will be in their element here with
limitless recreation options like; swimming, canoeing, kayaking,
waterskiing, hiking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, mountain
biking, horseback riding, sledding, wildlife viewing, and bird
watching. This ecologically diverse area also offers unsurpassed
world-class fl yfi shing, trolling and angling, in one of hundreds of
nearby parks, lakes, rivers and streams.
The Cariboo is blessed with temperate weather which provides
hot days in the summer perfect for dashing down a river in
a kayak, or cutting your own tracks on a lake from your canoe.
With white-water rafting and jet boating journeys available, it is
easy to embrace the blazing sun in the Central Cariboo. Guided
day trips, overnight, and multi-day excursions are available and
can be tailored to meet your requirements. Well known to the
locals for being a superb getaway for kayaking and canoeing
adventures, the Cariboo's popular river routes include the
Cariboo, Quesnel and Horsefl y Rivers (see maps page
16 & 17). The Horsefl y River is a great choice for a
mellow canoe trip, and many locals enjoy tubing
trips down this river on hot days.
Another way to explore the beauty of the
Central Cariboo is on ATV's or motocross bikes.
Williams Lake's Thunder Mountain Speedway
